Lets look at this a different way to compare.
Meyer arrives:
Saban leaving LSU
Miles comes to LSU-no one knows what to expect
Spurrier shows up at USC-no one expected him to turn the program around like he did
Fulmer on the decline at UT the next season
AU coming off a great year but they have those about every 5
UA we had Shula enough said
UGA always the bridesmaid never the bride
The SEC finished with 4 teams ranked, which were the only teams with over 7 wins.
Saban arrives in 2007
UF coming off a NC
LSU BCS bowl NC the next year
UGA again the bridesmaid
6 teams nationally ranked with 8 having 8 or more wins.
The difference Saban came to the SEC and UA for the challenge and doubt he would leave because of how competitive it is, which I believe he has helped to create. Urban came to the SEC and UF because at the time it was easy picking. Once he saw he would actually have to out coach other teams he left and saw OSU in the same position that UF was when he arrived. My guess is if the Big10 gets to be to competitive CUM will leave OSU.
