Because he is reliable year in year out. I understand that the award goes to the player hottest that year but come on... the guy has 2 nattys. Winston has zero. And no, I didn't think Manziel should've won either although this year proves he is a great QB and deserves to be on the list. And just because Oregon lost 2 games doesn't necessarily mean their QB should be taken off the list imo

That will change shortly. We can probably revisit this thread again in two years and be able to say he has AT LEAST two (assuming he doesn't leave early, which he likely will....and STILL may have two).

If we were to look objectively at stats, and only stats, Manziel would be the clear winner.....even against Winston. The losses took him out of legitimate consideration, but, as much as I dislike the kid and his attitude, he still had some ridiculous numbers this year. In fact, he's better in every category this year than he was last year (although he threw four more interceptions). And 33 passing TDs PLUS 21 rushing? Nuts.

Ok, are we watching the same sport? 1) Jameis has been a starter not even a year and you're gonna hold his lack of titles to McCarron who is a multi year starter? This is an award based off of one season, not a career achievement award. 2) How in the hell do you not think JFF didn't deserve it last year? Who deserved it more? The kid led the SEC in rushing and was one of the most vaunted passers in the nations best conference. There is literally no argument for any other player last year. 3) Have you even watched Oregon play football this year? Mariota looked awful in any game of merit. You can beat up on the nobodies but one of the biggest factors in the heisman is the amount a team depends on you and how you perform in pressure situations and vs Stanford and Arizona he was dreadful.

I mean, I don't wanna be an arse, but what in the hell are you watching?

I understand what you are saying and how you feel, but if reliability was the only criteria, i would have won the Heisman. No, I didn't come close!

Were the Nattys won because of his efforts, or because of all the talent around him? In other words, would Alabama have won the Nattys without McCarron?

I agree, here. He should definitely still be in the running. The Heisman is an individual award, not a team award.

Don't misunderstand me...I like McCarron. He ran the offense very well. But I would not call him the best player in the country. I mean, using the Natty argument, you would also have to invite every Alabama player that played on those teams.
