That's part of the BCS's problem. It relies heavily on polls that start in the preseason.

Well, the point is that we don't KNOW that the best team won the BCS that year (2004).

Auburn had 4 players go in the top 10 of the draft that year, with plenty of talent left. Utah (led by Urban legend) prison raped everyone they played. Definitely 2004 was a flawed year, IMO.
