Sumlin vs. Gus: Who's more dangerous?

There has been a lot of talk about who the better coach is in the SEC. I truly believe what Gus did this year was nothing short of a miracle. And there is one big difference between what Gus has done vs. what Sumlin [and even Saban & Miles] has done. Sumlin's success has been highly dependent on one spectacular player [JFF]. Miles & Saban's success has been highly dependent on superior recruiting. Gus has showed us that he can take a bunch of rag-tag, do-nothing, quitters and make them one of the most prolific scoring machines in the SEC. He can put a defensive back at QB and triple option you to death. He is an offensive genius and has that program believing.
I don't know if it is the scheme or the play calling, but that guy just has it. If you were to ask me who I'd rather see go to another conference, it wouldn't be Sumlin or Miles. It would be Gus. That guy is just too dangerous.
That being said: Bama by 14.

Gus by a long shot. Put JFF in Gus' offense and Auburn wins the national title

Gus is best coach in all the land

Gus and it's not even close

Gus by a wide margin, IMO.

I agree with everything you said short of the "rag-tag, do-nothing" label of the players. These are 18 year old kids, all of whom are part of top 15 recruiting classes. They simply lacked good leadership, a paramount element of any entity that relies on a group concept to compete.

I think both are good, but it is too early in their respective stints to make any final call on either. Muschamp went 11-2 last year and is now considered terrible.
Having said that, running is almost always going to be more consistent than passing, so I would say Gus has that going in his favor.

Gus
JFF is the dangerous one, not Sumlin.

Bama should win by 14. Saban has his machine well tuned. The fact Gus even has us to this point is nothing short of amazing. People forget about the attrition infer Gene.

Gus by a mile.
Gene Chizik with a fro has lived a blessed life with two NFL-caliber quarterbacks to mask his ineptitude. Once there's no more Case Keenum or Johnny Meth Head, then it's going to get ugly.

Gus inherited a roster littered with high caliber talent across the board.
While Sumlin got one of the best players of all time, as well as several other very nice contributors and even several All-Americans, he was left with absolute shite defensively.
It's too early to tell on both.

Umm, Auburns been pulling in top shelf talent for the last several years.
Still think Gus is the better coach, but he has a team loaded with ballers.

Auburn has recruited at a very high level. Gus was left with a lot of pieces.

elegantly put troll. Calling Auburns players rag tag do nothing quitters is BS. Auburn always had talent. What we had was shithead coaches. Especially Loeffler who was a fricking TRAINWRECK of an OC. This was compounded by Chizik who never properly applied or enforced discipline.

Sumlin. Gus has a far more talented defensive unit to carry his team. Sumlin is also a better recruiter, and when we look to a guy like Saban we know that recruiting is all that really matters.

Gus. Gus is the reason Auburn won the 2010 NC. It wasn't just Cam and Fairly. Without Gus as OC Auburn doesn't win NC with Cam and Fairly. If Sumlin is at A&M next year and without Johnny we will see how he does
