I didn't remember Tomlinson in 1999, but the site I looked up indicated he had the most yards per game and much higher yards per carry. I do remember Alexander being clearly the better running back of the two, but having some injuries that caused him to miss games early and then underperform once or twice.

I forgot about Alexander (not in general, I mean, just that he would have been running in college at that point.)

Tomlinson averaged 6.5 ypc that year. Ironically, that went down to 5.8 the next year, when he actually was a finalist for the Heisman.
