I mean, at this point don't you think the coaching staff has tried everything to get Yeldon and Drake to hold the ball better? If it hasn't worked by now it's not going to.

RB's come in 3 varieties when it comes to ball security.

The vast majority of RB's are just ok, they don't fumble alot or a little, it just happens sometimes.

There are small handful of RB's who have exceptional ball security and seem to hardly ever fumble.

Then there are those who are chronic fumblers and it is seemingly a problem that can never be fixed.

I hold my breath every time they run it.

As best I can tell the problem is that they swing the ball away from the body all the time as they try to cut. You can't swing your elbow out like a chicken wing with the ball.

I think they can fix it.

but i'd like to see Henry get some more carries. I think he could destroy AU's defense.

Eddie Lacy had some fumbles early in his career, but didn't have any last year. (or maybe one)

That's what I've observed all too often this year especially with Drake. The aggravating thing is that it can be fixed. I doubt Ingram and Trent just naturally carried the ball so tight to their bodies. It was a practice that was learned and reinforced through repetition. Not sure why it's not happening with TJ and Drake.

The one Yeldon had yesterday is very difficult to protect as I see with a lot of his fumbles.

Drake's seem fixable though.

Seems like "high and tight" has fallen by the wayside with these two.

I remember reading or hearing last year that during practice the defense really tries to rip the ball out of the carriers hands all the time. Even when they aren't running a play. Supposed to help with ball security.

Drake needs to start carrying the ball in the correct hand for starters..

Hey look at this thread I created on Nov 17, I wonder if it's relevant.

Bottom line: Yeldon does not carry the ball properly and he fumbles a lot because of it. Two seasons worth of horrible fumbles and he still hasn't learned. He will never learnd.

RB's who are fumblers are ALWAYS fumblers.
