Who is the SEC coach of the year so far?

I really only see 3 candidates
Nick Saban- team is undefeated and has an excellent shot for a third national title in a row and his fourth in his tenure at Bama
Gary Pinkel- Missouri came literally out of nowhere. They have played the best football out of all the teams in the East. If Pinkel wins the East, I think he should definitely receive the honor.
Gus Malzahan- Came out of nowhere too. Auburn had a shitty team last year, but they had potential. He has them in a complete 180 from last year though. 3-9 to any sort of 10+ win season is nothing short of amazing.
It's all about whether you think it's harder to sustain a program or to build a program.

If James Franklin beats UTk, James Franklin will be the SEC COTY.

I don't know how anyone could vote against Gus in this situation. Nick's accomplishments are almost expected at this point, I think that is a detriment to his cause in this race. I assume, if Gus continues to win, he will get the COTY award.

Gus. Pinkel would deserve it, but he has been there developing a program for a while - it just clicked on the field. Gus not only had to resurrect a football team, he had to rebuild the psyche of all the players on our team in his first season. Not easily done.

I think it is harder to turn around a team that was terrible the previous year, so Pinkel or Malzahn. Saban is obviously impressive, but at this point his machine is well oiled and efficient. If he does this next year in his first season at Texas, he would be the top pick.

Franklin, Pinkel, & Malzahn (in that order).
They've all had great seasons.

My list and order, and explanation why:
1. Saban - Undefeated, keeping the team motivated after back to back NC's and likely headed to an undefeated season.
2. Pinkel - Probably the least talented of the three teams listed here, and doing the most with them.
3. Malzahn - Doing an outstanding job and worthy of top 3 consideration, working with one of the higher ranked classes, shouldn't be a total shock that they have only one loss and can finish with probably just 2 during the season.

Gary Pinkel and Gus Malzahan have done a great job with largely unexpected success
But if Saban can pull out a Threepeat with National Championships in four out of five years... I think it should go to him...

did good but wasn't ever really considered to be a viable option to win his division.
