Can Hugh Freeze get Ole Miss over the hump, or will he pull a Mullen?

After Mississippi State fired Sylvester Croom in 2008, they hired Florida's offensive coordinator Dan mullen. At first, it seemed as if he could turn this struggling program around beating Ole Miss three years in a row, as well as taking State to three straight bowls. State fans were ecstatic until the end of last season.. Since then, it seems as if State is on the decline, and after getting near the top of the hill, it seems as if they are rolling back down.

In the spring of 2012, Ole Miss hired Hugh Freeze and he led them to a 7-6 record and a bowl win. This led to a #5 recruiting class, and a victory against number 6 LSU (27-24) will Hugh Freeze make Ole Miss a true contender, or will he pull a Mullen and get close, but not quite over the hump?

I personally think he can bring them over. This is his first D1 head coaching job (Arkansas State D2), and in the SEC. He may not be a good play caller, but he connects with the kids and can recruit. I say he pulls a Georgia and gets to the Sugar Bowl every few years (one Saban retires), but not enough for a NC.

Serious thread, what are yalls thoughts?

I don't know, but if those big arse teeth ever get a hold of the play sheet it's all down hill from there.

Dan Mullen never had a top 5 recruiting class and he struggled to beat teams from the SEC West. Freeze has not had those problems.

He's a 7-win a year type coach. I guess that's getting over the hump for the Mississippi schools, so sure.

Freeze will freeze. And pull a Mullen ... In fact, Mullen will beat Ole Miss this year!

Hugh Freeze is a much better coach than Mullen. That's not the problem. The problem is getting Ole Miss to a consistent level of winning. Stealing talent away from the LSUs and Bamas and Auburns and TAMUs of the world every year will be extremely difficult.
