That's pretty cool.

Speaking of personalities, it seems that this one may have taken a turn for the better:

Well, I can tell you that if the players' driving abilities and the way they behave behind the wheel is/are any indication of what he's having to deal with, he's got his hands full.
They act like entitled jackasses in the lot behind Bryant Hall.
He's also had players involved in muggings, assaults, fraudulent card use, DUIs, etc., over the past few months. That kind of crap comes with the territory, but it's got to wear on him when combined with all the other things going on around the program.

Is he praying to Saban for forgiveness in that photo?

He's asking God to give him the strength to even make the walk to the sidelines.

I've heard that Paul Bryant, Jr has ruffled CNS's feathers. About what specifically, I don't know other than possibly overshadowing Bear's legacy.

I remember even back during the Shula era one of those preseason mags having an anonymous SEC coach saying that for Alabama to be successful they would need a coach who was intimidating enough that the good ole boys wouldn't come up and tell him "That ain't how Bear did it". And a year or so later we hired that exact coach imo. Jr. seems like to that would be the only one by now with any intent of not blowing Saban if he asked much less ruffling the guys feathers.

Exactly why as soon as Saban is no longer the coach, Alabama's football program goes back into the wilderness.
Always found the references to the "individuals" behind the scenes of the football program to be a bit overblown and conspiratorial. The day I watched Mike Price say at his introductory press conference that he could only hope to be "the second best" coach in program history, I changed my tune.

Mal picked Bill Battle...didn't he?
Or was that Bonner's idea.

Yeah I have a feeling Saban had Hart or someone similar. An actual good and professional AD not someone from the nearly dead wash out coaches club.

these fools better not run saban off with their, we own the football program, bs.
my fear is that just as soon as saban leaves. these characters set us back 10 years.

Pretty much any A-D even Mal has been or will be a Saban puppet though since late 2006. Like I tweeted to Clay Travis today (and being I said something funny articulate and intelligent he didn't respond) he has my permission to steal my idea for the actual crimes each SEC head coach would have to commit to get fired list. Saban probably approaches actually being Jeffery Sandusky.

All this talk about Saban and Bryant getting along...who knows? I was told of a conversation about a year in which Bryant Jr, speaking to a few people, said that the plan being discussed was for Saban to move into the AD job and for Smart to become the head coach...possibly with a year of transition where Saban wears both hats. Hiring Battle to me reaffirms that plan...Battle is obviously only keeping the seat warm for somebody. The friend who told me...someone very high in state govt...wasn't in the conversation; his boss was. Now, does any of that mean that Saban would take the job if offered? No...but I'm not buying any of this stuff about Saban's feathers being ruffled by Bryant. Could be true I guess, but I believe the above story as was told to me.

I'd love if Smart became the head coach and was as good as we think he can be. He's young enough to stay for a looooong time, and with Saban at AD we keep a lot of consistency.
And I'm sure AD Saban would make sure the Golf Team is top notch.

I challenge anyone to name a highly acclaimed assistant of a coaching guru (Saban, Walsh, bellichek, etc.) that hasn't failed in their first and sometimes 2nd head coaching job before breaking thru. Remember bellicheks years in Cleveland...Saban's early years at MSU...
It sounds really good - Kirby seamlessly taking over and keeping it rolling. But it never happens that way.
