AU certainly can be viewed as having impact in three of those year (72, 89, 2005) but they were one of multiple losses, not the only loss.

2010, we were pretty much out of a national title hunt by the Iron Bowl. Even a win there would not have given us a shot at the SEC title.

Yeah in 2005 and 2010 LSU pretty much ended any title hopes.

In 1989,after the Iron Bowl loss, Alabama went on to play (and lose) against Miami in the Sugar Bowl. Miami won the national championship that year.

I don't know if Bama would have won a NC in 89 had it won that Sugar Bowl.
