Well since then its been business as usual. I know ADs answer to trustees and boosters but these guys legacies at schools are directly tied to their hires and the success of the respective sport programs they preside over.

Good logical post overall but above is where the logic breaks down and I know you know it. A good contrast is Bama and Auburn vs UGA. Clearly the admins at Bama and Auburn have winning football championships as a priority. The ultimate example was Auburn firing Chizik just 2 short years after he won a NC. The contrast: Winning championships in football is clearly NOT a priority for the administrators at the University of Georgia. We all know this to be true. They are much more focused on building academic prowess and decreasing the image of UGA as a party school.

As such, Mark Richt is the near ideal coach for Georgia. He presents a pristine image, runs a clean program and wins enough to keep the money rolling in. They could hardly ask for more.

Meanwhile, I agree that Grantham might well leave voluntarily and take another job in the NFL. He just doesn't seem like the type of personality who is willing to put up with the limitations of the college game long term. However, if he doesn't leave in the off season and his defense doesn't improve significantly next year, McGarity might have no choice but to direct Richt to let him go.
