I say no.

I blame the Tea Party crazies exponentially more than I blame Obama and any socially liberal people out there for the state of the US government right now.

Left wing crazies and Right wing crazies are both equally bad.

JMO though left wing crazies are worse than the right. Given that you are from the delta I would more than likely say you are democrat so I won't go into this anymore with you.

Are we better off? No. But is it the tea party's fault? No.

They are doing what they were elected to do - be a voice for their constituents. That os the way the Founding Fathers wanted it. House was the voice of the people, Senate was the voice of the state (we killed that with direct election of senators).

One of my liberal friends was posting on Facebook yesterday that it was no surprise that 75% of tea party reps said they would vote against something good for the country if their constituents were against it. That is how it should be; that is their job.

The reason that we are not better off is because the other side, be it the politicians or the people who elect them, have ideas that are polar opposite of the "tea party" types, and yet they are not willing to compromise on anything, they want it either their way of the highway.

here's the deal w/ the Tea Pary IMHO. There are a lot of great ideas out there that they have. Constitutional ideas. Common sense ideas. The problem is that their spokesman, outside of Cruz and Lee are idots.

I don't consider myself a tea partier, but my politics probably line up along theirs, I just don't feel the need to proclaim it with such a negative message and carry my gun with me at rallies.

The ideas are correct, but the rhetoric is terrible.

Sorant,

I bet you also signed the MoveOn.org petition to criminally arrest Republican leaders for sedition regarding their actions during the government shutdown.

Hell, you probably signed the petition multiple times under different aliases. That's what you whackos consider legit.

Things look better here in 2013 than they did in 2009. So certainly things have gotten better since Rick Santelli's rant over taxes and bailouts. The world economy was a shitshow then where things are slowly getting better now.

I blame them for putting belief over being pragmatic. The Dems control the Senate and WH. You're not going to get what you want stomping your feet and demanding unrealistic goals. Obamacare isn't going away until there is a R in the WH. They need to learn to pick their battles.

Principles aren't worth shite in politics if you can't get anything you want.

I'll say this.

The country is worse off, because long standing failed policies of Democrats are catching up. Generations of families live a welfare lifestyle, a large portion of the populace expect the Gov't to provide for them and the policies of the left has allowed a massive amount of Americans to go and remain uneducated.

When such a large portion of America is poor, uneducated and catered to and promised things by the left, you have the debt where it is, crime where it is, unemployment where it is. Think about what just happened, again. We borrowed more money, to pay for things we can't afford, and in the process, increased spending another 3 billion dollars. Would you max out all your cards, go get a high interest loan to pay on them, get a new credit card and buy more stuff, without cutting nonessential items out of your life?

I was fine with letting the country go into default, then maybe our elected officials would quit mortgaging our future and actually start acting responsibly. Not going to happen though, until there is a huge shift in the country, and that is likely not to happen in my lifetime.
Way too many like giving and receiving entitlements that are undeserved and unnecessary.

I am curious if we will have a 4th party come about in the next 5-10 years.

Libertarians, Democrats, Republicans, and Tea Party members.

Any extremist sect within the two parties blow. I hate both parties though because they are both so corrupt and agree on more than this disagree on

This country has gone straight to hell since the 2000 election. I'm just going to enjoy watching the world burn.

That's reasonable of you. After all, the Tea party controls a small chunk of the majority party of one house of congress. Obviously, this is all their fault. Stupid crazy people who want to balance the budget. Don't they realize we can just print more money?

The Tea Party is just another niche thing that fits into the 'divide and conquer' game plan of the elites.

If you actually look at the fundamental things the Tea Party and Occupy believe, they're almost identical. But they hate each other, and are portrayed as polar opposites.

All of the problems currently plaiging the US economy are the result of the liberal policies passed by the democratic party during the last 3 administrations:

The Repeal of the Glass-Steagall Act, Clinton Administration (Allowed commercial banks and investment houses to be under the same company, allowing banks to invest depositors money in risky mortgage backed securities while convincing their investing customers to invest in the same products that they themselves were bundling and selling, creating a bubble that set off the bank failures and the bubble bursting of the 2008 recesssion)

Creation of Fanny Mae and Freddie Mac, Clinton Administration (preditory government backed mortgage loans to people with poor to no credit setting off the housing bubble)

Affordable Care Act, Obama Administration (causes employers to limit hours of their employees to avoid having to provide healthcare, layoff employees to stay under the minimum number so as not to have to provide insurance, and makes insurance far less affordable for most people)

No, extremist groups generally don't contribute to the betterment of government and policy.

I agree.

They're not better than any extreme and it's quite sad that people are so desperate for change at this point that they're willing to buy into what they're selling. We've become the country of "lesser of two evils" all across the board.
