Varsity and JV, we don't have assigned roles (other than the Head coach and the coordinators) I usually work with OL.

Ah. Been wondering, any official requirements for HS coaching? Not head coaching, but just being on a staff. My old HS head coach has put the idea in my head before, I told him I wouldn't mind coaching up his QBs or DBs, but wasn't interested at the time. It's kind of appealing, but I don't know any specifics and I don't have his number to ask him about it. Don't know if I'd really do it, but I'm sure whenever he needed someone to come in if I told him I was interested he'd give me a call.

In Alabama, its basically like being a substitute teacher, you have to go get finger printed/background checked first then volunteer. There is this sportsmanship online "test" you have to take as well but it is basically a formality. You won't necessarily get paid unless the booster club gives you a small supplement for gas/your time and that is hit or miss.

I get my coaching supplement because I am a certified teacher currently working at the Central office in a support job until a full time teaching job comes open. And my coaching supplement isn't much at all being a low level flunky. But the best thing is the Coaches card, I get into all AHSAA events free. Hopefully next fall, there will be a teaching job open. I went to UA and graduated with a BA in History/Political Science. I then moved back closer to home (my dad's condition got worse) and attended JSU's fifth year program. In that program, you receive your Master's in Education and a Class A certificate. I did not finish until the end of the summer and they already had all the teaching jobs filled. I was turning 26 so I needed insurance. I took a support position/coaching just to get me to next fall.
