Alright. I'm five chapters in......

Not bad. Dude's pretty funny. But, I can tell it's gonna get PC and preachy further down the road.

SideNote: i downloaded it on the spot and started reading it while sitting at the bar having dinner......and an old lady from Hattiesburg, Mississippi walked up on her way out and said she needed to know what I was reading so intently......

I tried to explain it...and she told me about how her first date with her now-deceased husband was a tour of Sharpsburg battlefield and about how there was some volunteer group of Ole Miss students in the same battalion at Gettysburg that all died in Pickett's charge...and how she was related to one of them.

Anyway....

Time Travel?.....no.

But, Threadgill just ran some punk off that came to play music for the nursing home.......because he played some fancy version of "Dixie".....and Threadgill found it disrespectful......

The other geriatrics are pissed too. So, Threadgill is using the chaos as cover for his escape.

That Threadgill. What a card!......

Because he was 14 years old in 1864 when his brother was murdered by yankees in Georgia......

100 years later puts Threadgill at 114 years old conveniently in the middle of the civil "rights" movement.......

This will give the author all sorts of opportunities to make glossy illogical PC emotional commentary.

That's my theory, at least.

I just finished a book call "Ender's Game" where the goal was to kill all the evil bugs. Good ending.

I think everyone else here probably read that book 15-20 years ago.

Orson Scott Card is a hack as a writer. The story is fine but goddamn his writing skills are horrendous. Someone else could have done a lot more with the same story idea.

I'm leaning towards a time travel theory.. but yeah, I'll be shocked if he kills the mothetfricker in the end.

Ill give it a read, Chris. I typically don't care for Civil War fiction but, I am always down for a good book.

Hijack, but any of you ever read Jeffrey Archer? One of my favorite fiction writers. British guy who writes alot of books centered around parliamentary scandals and british aristocracy. Hes one intriguing son of a bitch IRL too. Did some years in prison over there a few years back for some crazy shite. Check him out

As the Crow Flies is one of my favorite stories ever. A very Dickensian type storyteller

That's not a compliment to be thrown around lightly, Chef. In my estimation, Uncle Charlie Dick' was the finest English author the world has seen. I know the "experts" put him at #2 behind Bill Shakespeare but, since that guy looks more and more to have been several different people and NONE of them the ACTUAL W.S., I don't think there is enough evidence to support that position.

Oh youre not telling me. C.D. is the GOAT In this instance i was more referring to Archers love of rags and riches british society portrayal. Not comparing the two bodies of work. That would be ridiculous
