How in the hell do you know when a player is hurt or he is faking?

Obviously, one cannot "know" from the grandstands, but one can draw a reasonable inference when a different player lays on the turf every few plays of a high-pace drive and then magically re-appears after sitting out a single play.

One player, once on the drive? Maybe just a cramp.

Repeat, again and again? Something don't smell right.

When he's walking off the field and his coach/teammates tell him to go down so they can stop the gameplay.
