Texas would NEVER go after Sumlin for at least one of the same reasons they would never go after Briles...the appearance of taking a coach from a "lesser school".

wait, whut?

Mack Brown was at North Carolina from 1988 - 1997
During that time the Tar Heels never competed for a national title (in football)
Before that time the Tar Heels had 0 MNC's in football in their entire history

1. North Carolina is not a "lesser school" to Texas academically.

2. North Carolina is not a "lesser school in Texas".

Perhaps you should acquaint yourself with the dossier on one David McWilliams and one John Mackovic.

After that era of mediocrity, I wouldn't be surprised if Texas actually went to UNC to hire Dean Smith. Mack was some kind of consolation prize/parting gift.
