We actually ran the ball ok on Saturday when we weren't fumbling it considering Florida had no respect for our passing game (and they shouldn't have). Them stacking the box led to a ton of 3rd and 8+ and with our QB/WR situation we just aren't gonna get many of those especially against their defense

I agree, you can't run as effectively when the passing game is THAT bad. We badly need for our receivers to breakout. We're starting to see that happen one by one but like the QB it's gonna take time and experience and there's just no substitute for game experience.

If we burn one of the redshirts by choice rather than because we have to I think it should Dobbs despite practice reports saying Ferguson's farther ahead whereas Dobbs has more raw talent. Dobbs can keep plays alive with his feet, he's elusive, and though not a running QB at all he can run when he has to. On film he's more like the old school dual threats than the running QBs associated with 'dual threat' today -- he's a pocket passer first that can also run and escape defenders. That's another problem for defenders to have to worry about.

However, I think the most logical redshirt to burn and keep everyone happy is Ferguson's, he's got the arm and has speed but isn't much of scrambler despite his speed although he could finally decide he should use it. Reports say he's more ready but then again there are Ferguson vs. Dobbs partisans all over this debate of who/which so take that with a grain of salt. What we do know is that he has the best arm of the 4. His family has been lobbying for him on the radio which tells me the kid is hellbound to get in there. Ferguson has a cocksure attitude that's very good for a true freshman and it may help keep him from getting rattled should he see serious action. Dobbs, OTOH, has 5-year degree program (aerospace engineering) and baseball to look forward to so redshirting isn't just a physical benefit for him but also one that preserves another year on scholarship (kid wants his degree too and has set very high standards for himself in football, baseball, and academics).
