1. This is still just a story by a writer correct and the NCAA is not involved as of yet?
2. The Alabama compliance department will investigate and report their findings to the NCAA who will then decide if it warrants further investigation?
3. If they are satisfied with the schools finding then proceed with acceptance of penalties self imposed or add to the penalty.

Is this how the process plays out or do they look into this simply because an article was published?

I'm not 100% sure so don't take this as gospel but

Right now all it is, is a story. I believe the NCAA has to get all it's info itself if they want to make a ruling. See the Miami case. They got lazy and didnt go through all the hoops they needed to(the NCAA).

I think the administration has known for some time and has probably already starts their investigation. Fluke has already been questioned by them. I'd bet my bank account though that all this is enough to get the NCAA involved in an investigation.

If the administration finds enough they'll most likely impose self punishment. You pretty much have to if there's something there. If that's the case the NCAA will go through their findings and determine if the punishment is enough. Maybe nothing is found by the administration. The NCAA will still probably make a ruling.

I think the NCAA pokes it's head in the door at the least.

I think it really will comes down to Davis and what he is willing to share. Every comment by the agents was in response to questions regarding information Yahoo already had. They defended their role. Meaning Yahoo had all this info and the only way Yahoo could get any of these records is from Davis. He is the smoking gun in my opinion and will determine how far this will go.
