Yes - because they want to bring the hits the SEC gives regularly to the rest of the country. They cannot do this unless the other conferences can start winning.
TV revenue. Los Market: USC terrible despite #1 ranking last year and Notre Dame getting the ND treatment etc...
They need the country back. The country knows what we know - the SEC is the best - by a mile.
That is why the big ESPN JFF issue. They invested 300 million in the Horn network - which I feel is a conflict of interest BTW. In any event - ESPN trashed talked A&M leaving the conference while also trying to say A&M was meaningless - which is it? Many teams had already moved?
Then = the worst nightmare - JFF - sumlin. Shermin leaves 4 #1 NFL lineman. and Texas with NFL talent has more rushing yds against them in one half than in a game in their entire history.
You can say what you want about me. but a 300 mil investment is likely aimed at gaining a 1 billion at least profit. If you are looking at a 300 mil loss - what do you do stockholders:
1st: make sure the competing state school does not win another Heisman. That is death nail.
2nd: slander the coach and the school - someone google their moral code and read it on the air.
Done.
What about the other guys?
Do we own 300 million dollars of stock in the "other" guys?
No sir
