How much influence do they have politically now? I thought the only reason Texas got boned when the SWC fell out was because a Baylor alum was the governor.

A pretty good bit.

Tech did its best to infiltrate as much as it could in the state capital. They pretty much own a region of Texas. Its a shitty region, but its enough to declare solid representation.

Meanwhile Baylor is all lawyered up- the president is one of the most famous in modern political history. They saw that might be their only chance down the road. TCU has lots of oil money, enough to keep the lawsuits going for as long as needed.

Together they have enough power that they almost locked us in if Texas didn't push us out. If the table turned there is no fricking way we would throw them the life preserver- we would use our political muscle (which includes the guy who picks their BOR) to keep them stuck in the shitty conference with the kids.

It will be a big deal if Texas could get away without any dependants. That is why the PAC is more likely- bring one or two along.

Don't forget the fact that the Texas Legislature was in recess. There's no way we would have been able to do this in 2012.
