Should be a good rivalry, I like the whole "Gulf War" thing, pretty cool.

What does that have to do with this year?
It has everything to do with it when you say...

They might have to win a couple games against us first before we can call it a rivalry

yea for maybe 3 years.
then Sumlin leaves and UT hires a real coach and they'll be right there with Tulane as our rival.
What's funny is Mack is Texas's first "Real Coach" since DKR.

That's where I draw the line. Say what you want about JFF, the corps, Reville, jars, etc., but you just rustled my only goddamn jimmy.

The Gulf War™ rivalry has always been right there, just below the surface, ready to explode into a National Event. What appeared to be a setback in losing a Thanksgiving Day game has become a 10-fold blessing. We only needed the burnt orange stool impactors to step on their own dicks cancel the series. I guess we should thank them for being butthurt nancy-boys and refusing to play the T-day game because this series will have national implications and people (other than Texans) will actually give a frick.
If you don't think this rivalry had all the potential for a HUGE insurgence to the current power structure and national appeal, look at the facts. The series began in 1899. Both are A&M schools. We share a state boarder. We fight over the same recruits. Our fans are EXACTOfrickINGLY alike (except LSU fans are more gay -- jump in loverboys, we'll love you ). We're both arrogant and delusional as frick. We both have inferiority issues in one form or fashion. We both freak out with conspiracy theories. We both annoy the frick out of each other. We have no problem disrespecting the frick out of each other. The two schools compete like a motherfricker for the USNWR #1 rank in petroleum engineering, veterinary medicine, and a number of other disciplines. And the cool think is...we can actually live and work around LSU fans without wanting to punch them in the face or worry about them trying to frick us over to gain an unfair advantage via some legislation or other government action.
As an aside, I will note that the decision of DeLost Dodds & Co. to end the Lonestar Showdown out of arse hurt will go down as the worst in the history of longhorn athletics, cuz we gone, and we ain't want that shite back. They have A LOT more to gain by playing the game, and we are currently marginalizing the frick out of them. I think we should NEVER let them have a game, or if we do, we only have a mid-season neutral cite game with conditions that it air ONLY on the SECN. That game really means NOTHING compared to the Gulf War™.
Anyway, here's to many years of LSU/A&M hate,
and always remember, no matter what you think the answer to ANY question may be, it's always:

Damn straight... Brisket is superior BBQ. The only way to make pork close is to turn it into bacon.
