Most of you are confusing "paying" players with allowing players to make money off of their name/likeness.
If someone wanted to give me $500 to make an appearance at their car dealership when I played, why shouldn't I be allowed to capitalize on that? Or pay me to be in a local commercial? Or on a billboard? Or for some autographs?

What's funny is these players get paid. Not having to pay for something , IS GETTING PAID.

I am in the minority they should get paid. I know they get a scholarship and a lot of other big perks but the literally dedicated 80% of their time to the university during season.
I can see the argument the people have that say they shouldn't get paid though. It would have to be done right from school to school/cost of living/amount of work and time dedicated to the sport.

No you're a moron for making any sort of distinguishment between making money off your likeness and getting paid. They are one in the same. If you were allowed to make money off a signature, per NCAA rules, an Aggie booster would give Manziel $1million for a signature on a napkin.

If you pay players the colleges lose amateur status and have to pay taxes on their education,food, housing, etc.
