I was on a segway tour in Dallas last year (shut up, they are effing fun, and sorry to whomever's bike I destroyed in Nola on one) and the guy kept going on and on about how the flag is at the same height of the American flag because they were their own Republic, blah blah....
Yeah...in words they were. They honestly believe that Texans made Texas. I pissed him off so hard with my factual questions... "but isn't it true that...."

Some Texans -- like the OP, for instance -- simply like to talk to hear themselves talk, I believe.
