This might be the most embarassing and stupid way A&M could have handled it.
They had two sane plays:
1. Play him as though nothing happened and he's totally innocent
OR
2. Sit him indefinitely while the questions are cleared up
Do they seriously think that a 1/2 game suspension against Rice will appease everyone and make the whole thing go away?
If anything this makes A&M look hillariously bad, worse than not suspending him at all.

Your post makes you look hilariously dumb.
The common guide for a violation of this rule is 1-2 games. This will be the first punishment for a violation of the rule based purely on this type of circumstantial evidence (e.g. "you should have known").
This holding will implicate other players with tons of autographs on the market, too. The NCAA has to be mindful of that.
Look, it's not our fault the media inflated your expectations with sensationalism that mischaracterized the strength of the NCAA's case. Perhaps you shouldn't have given so much weight to a handful of anonymous brokers and a reporter whose been duped before.
