Yes, the Black Bear annoys me. Not because I had some man-crush on Col. Reb, but because someone decided a cartoon character wasn't PC. I could make an argument against many mascots...The Raiders/Vikings - murdered hundreds of thousands of my ancestors and their countrymen. "Razorbacks" and "Fighting Tigers" can trace their nicknames to Confederate origins and on and on...Silly isn't it?

The confederate battle flag is altogether different. It wasn't used until the 40's when it was adopted by the Dixiecrats - throughout the South - to signify opposition to integration. It needed to go and the school disassociated with it in 1983. I'm glad it's gone.
