Is Stanford this years Notre Dame?
With all the talking heads discussing Stanford and how they play a physical brand of football sounds a lot like how they over-hyped Notre Dame last year.
Is anyone really concerned about losing to Stanford?

Did anybody watch Stanford v. ND last year? I know it's just one game, but seriously.

Stanford can beat SEC teams.

Does their inside linebacker have an imaginary girlfriend who died?

January 1, 2013 vs Wisconsin Rose Bowl W 20–14
January 2, 2012 vs Oklahoma State Fiesta Bowl L 38–41 OT
January 3, 2011 vs Virginia Tech Orange Bowl W 40–12
December 31, 2009 vs Oklahoma Sun Bowl L 27–31
Serious question. Has Stanford played a SEC team in the BCS MNC era? When was the last time Stanford played a SEC team in football?

I like Stanford's team and coach. They're definitely on the short of teams that can beat the SEC champion

This is the wrong kind of team to "dethrone" the SEC in my opinion. Trying to match up power on power with most SEC teams usually doesn't work.
I still think it will be a team like an Oregon or Clemson with a high powered, HUNH offense that just has a brilliant game where everything is clicking that has the best chance to win a BCSCG or playoff against the SEC.

No, but when we do, I hope it's to a team like Stanford. Or Wisconsin.
I'd prefer not to lose it to Ohio State. Or Oregon.
Or other effeminate programs.

I love that Stanford plays physical. The Oregon Dline will be the most physical dline in the Pac - 12.

I don't feat Stanford.
Georgia Tech shut U.S.C. down.
Oregon shutout Arizona while Stanford gave up nearly 500 yards passing and 48 points.
I saw the Oregon/Stanford game live and have watched replays. Stanford slowed Oregon down, but I wouldn't say they dominated Oregon. Mariota missed a few open receivers, and we all remember that run down the sidelines that would have been a touchdown if Black Mamba had thrown a block on the safety. Let's see if Stanford can do better than 17-14 OT against Oregon.

Stanford has a chance, but it's not great. I wouldn't bet on them doing it.

By "this years Notre Dame" do you mean wildly overrated and destined to be destroyed by an SEC team in the title game?

Part of the ability to beat a school is playing often enough to be used to them. It is interesting to note that Stanford did not start playing Georgia Tech and Tulane till after they left the SEC. Here is Stanford vs the SEC :
Alabama : 0-1-1 : last played in 1935 when they still let the SEC win the Rose Bowl
Arkansas : 1-0-0 : last played in 1970 when Hogs were in SWC
Auburn : never played
Florida : never played
Georgia : 1-0-0 : last played in 1978 when the SEC had 10 members
Kentucky : never played
Louisiana State : 1-0-0 : last played in 1977 when the SEC had 10 members
Ole Miss : never played
M State : never played
Missouri : 1-0-0 : last played in 1971 when Mizzou was in the Big 8
South Carolina : never played
Tennessee : never played
Texas A&M : 0-1-0 : last played in 1992 when TAMU was in the SWC
Vanderbilt : never played
With no exposure to the SEC since the 1970's my feeling is the SEC would rape the Cardinal worse than the Tide raped the Irish.

I'm still just asking myself why the subject line required three exclamation marks rather than one question mark?
Seems like "Dethroning the SEC?" would have worked far better and been more apropos for the subject matter contained herein.
Anyway, no ... Stanford will not beat the SEC Champ. Harbaugh made them the flavor of the decade but Stanford is not even likely to get past Oregon, SoCal or UCLA this year and certainly not all three.

If anyone does it, it will be Oregon or Clemson.
