Schools will recognize that they don't have to go undefeated to have a shot at the championship. They'll be more inclined to schedule more big games which will increase revenue rather than play a patsy $1 million dollars and watch their seats stay empty for a few Saturdays


Still have to make the playoffs though...

When was winning the national championship the criterion for showing up for home games?

The whole national championship fixation is an ESPN invention. People used to go see their team play, more when the team was good of course.
