Don't get me wrong, I'm happy as hell we dumped LSU off on the Aggies, but are you seriously trying to claim the Aggies have an actual history with LSU?

We can still see each other, just not in *that* way anymore

I think they are
This is all just to give LSU an easier game so they will quit bitching about having to play Florida every year.

We play on thursday, that gives us 2 extra days to get ready for the SECC game.

Arkansas vs A&M series record: 41-25-3 Arkansas
Like I said, easier game.
Like I said, easier game.

For LSU arky was the easier game.. No doubt.

Before the 2011 Cotton Bowl, you guys haven't played each other since 96? 97? :rivalry:

You claimed we didn't have a history with LSU. Which was wrong. 51 games played v each other when we were not even in the same conference is some history.
I and others have proven otherwise. Before our game, I remember papers from Texas and Louisiana raving about the game and the old rivalry. And linked one of them.
You can stick your head in the sand if you want to, but there is a reason you were replaced.
The most in demand away game - by far - for LSU last year was TAMU. The most in demand home game - by far - last year for TAMU was the LSU game.
This year, the same is true, but reversed. LSU tickets and parking tickets etc for that TAMU game are the highest. Most in demand away game for us is LSU.
But I suppose we should have Arkansas as the most demanded game, right, because we have played more times? Doesn't work that way.

By my count all three teams are still in the same division and arky will still have to play TAMU and LSU every year, just on a different week. Only one team gets an easier game, and thats arky by playing mizzou...

I for one, liked the Arkansas Rivalry. Border states, a stupid trophy, and a series history that was BUILDING towards hate. 20 consecutive years (save 2001) did we play in the final week of the season.
It was a rivalry...just a young one. We both don't have a natural rival, so it could have worked if the SEC would have given it the due time like all the other SEC classic rivalries. We don't have 100 years of series history like AU/UGA, but I think it could have blossomed if you would have let it reach the 30, 40, 50 year mark of consecutive games.
I roundly reject A&M on that thanksgiving date for 2 reasons.
1. Aggie, we will NEVER be Texas. As much as you may want this, we're not the one for you. It's like dating a chick still hung up on her ex. You're not over it, and I'm stuck in it. Nobody will ever look at it like UT/aTm, so just give it up and make up with big brother.
2. Anybody who actually pays attention to the series history we have with A&M knows that the real "tradition" of that series is to play it on Labor Day Weekend.

So your friend's assertion that replacing the arky game with TAMU was to give LSU an easier game? We still have to play both of yall, its doesnt take a rocket scientist to figure out it was arky that needed a little help at the end of the season.

I didn't say it. I don't know that guy, anybody can change their team logo to Arkansas.
Considering how competitive the games have been, I'm not sure how you concluded that we needed help. Maybe you need to study up on rocket science.

We'll always have Alex Box and Baum.
And that football game we still play every year.

You don't get it. A rivalry is not only how many times you have played a team, but how much you dislike them
I don't think a lot of you "get" the rivalry concept, or the history on why they are formed, particularly in regard to Arkansas. As a matter of fact, most of the posters here are too young to remember, or weren't even born back in the SWC days. I was. There was a deep, pure hatred for the U of Texas, not A&M, by Arkansas fans, and vice versa, that went way beyond the football field, and to some degree, for a lot of people, it still exists. That true rivalry was much more intense, exponentially more intense, than any rivalry "suggested" here with any of our SEC opponents, so, yes, Arkansas fans are very much aware of what a legit rivalry is.
So, to put everyone's mind at ease about our future rivalries, we appreciate the concern, and as much as we are grateful for your aid in trying to choose one for us, you don't get a vote. Rivalries form, organically, over time. It takes a minute for that level of hate to develop, and quite frankly, no one in the SEC has measured up to our true rival standards, to date.
As far as our playing Missouri instead of LSU the last game of the season, we're very excited about it. I, for one, am extremely happy that it will be played in two of the most beautiful places there are for college football in the Fall, where we girls can wear our pretty sweaters, rather than spend our Thanksgiving weekend, every other year, in a sweltering sauna that has an aroma of stale beer, whiskey, and B.O.
Will there be a rivalry between Mizzou & us? ... Meh, doubtful, but looking forward to beautiful football weekends in November!
And to LSU & the other SEC teams who have shown so much interest in our rivalry status ... Good luck with your future prospective rival positions. As I said, we do appreciate your interest in ours, but, regrettably, at this time, your application has been denied.
