I always go to the Lion's Club tubing in San Marcos... No can ban, relatively short float, you can do it as many times as you want, and there are some nice rapids at the end that are fun to go down repeatedly.

I'm a canoe endurance racer. I compete in sanctioned ultra marathon river races. Essentially, I'm a canoeing expert and enthusiast.

I agree that tubing might seem boring, but it's not. In fact, with a group of people who are looking to party on the river (and I assume that's the goal on the Guadalupe), tubing is the only way to do it. You'll look like a douchebag in a canoe on the Guadalupe because it is a tubing river.

However, purchase a tube instead of renting one. You'll spend less and you'll own the tube for future float trips. Also, purchase a small children's tube (one with a bottom) for your cooler and then tie it to your tube. You must not forget a separate tube for your cooler.

Everyone will tie up and it'll be a huge floating party.

You'll have blast! And you'll want to do it again.

PS...Do NOT canoe on the Guadalupe. It's not a canoeing river. Just trust me.

Watch out for rattle snakes.

There is no water to speak of in the Guadalupe. Prepare to walk and paddle.
