that isn't referring to an illegal, immoral, disgusting practice? I was listening to 680 the fan this morning, and there was brief mention about this subject. It's my opinion that they should just be called the South Carolina Chickens. This way they aren't promoting an illegal activity, such as cockfighting.

How can South Carolina fans not be upset about this?

What if the gators were called the Florida Murderers? That surely wouldn't be acceptable. A true reflection maybe, but nonetheless unacceptable.

Just a thought.

How about you go frick yourself.

EDIT: The only thing 680 the fan is good for, is Braves and Hawks coverage. Stinchcomb, Perry, and ESPECIALLY John and Belue are just shills.

Let me guess, it was Perry complaining about it?

Negative. Congratulations. You advance political correctness. Perhaps you are the Yankee and not Mizzou.

it is associated with an illegal activity. might as well call them the South Carolina Roach Clips.

But, Ill sit back and watch the USCe fans come in here and defend a mascot name with the word "cock" in it.

No, it's uniqueness makes it a cool mascot. It's one of my favorites.

This was a very unexpected post. From your other posts I always figured you were a pretty big fan of the cocks.

You do know how bulldogs came by their name don't you? Probably not based on your stupid post.

The name was derived from the "sport" of bull baiting. The original bulldog breed was similar to what is now called an American Bulldog but after bull baiting was made illegal, the need for such a dog wained and the breed was bastardized into several different breeds including the English Bulldog.

Fortunately, the true bulldog breed was rescued by a man named Johnson, who I believed lived in Georgia, and became known a American Bulldogs. I never understood why Georgia doesn't use an American Bulldog for its mascot but that's a discussion for a different time.

Using your stupid logic, should Georgia change mascots? After all, bull baiting is as cruel as it gets.

Our nickname is "Gamecocks" - not "Cock Fighting"

guess because Tigers kill people they should go, and leave fighting Irish cause that is true....

I agree....we should change our name from the Gamecocks to the Monstrouscocks.....and then patent it so that everyone has to say "the University of South Carolina Monstrouscocks" whenever they refer to our teams. Or at the very least, force UGA fans to have to say it...

A UGA fan talking about something immoral? I'm sorry how many UGA's have died in the last few years due to disgusting inbreeding?

Someone is jealous that we don't share a nickname with 15 other D1 teams, including another team in the conference.

If you're going to complain about mascots and logos, at least choose this one
