He wanted to go where he had no competition. Wanted to be touted as the best coach in football similar to what Pete Carroll was while at USCw in the pac10.

The SEC gauntlet wears many a coach down.
That article, to me, was more about him coming down here for athletes - speed.
What will counter that is the SEC continuing to lay wood to OSU whenever the opportunity presents itself. Of course, there will always be the, "we've almost caught the SEC" B1G diehards, but as long as they don't quite get there, that's all the matters.
Strangely enough, at least IMHO, the PAC 12 does not get enough credit for their speed as a conference. Yet where has it inevitably gotten them? Oregon was supposed to be the "speed" team to dethrone the SEC and Auburn, yet they too failed.
It takes more than just a few speedy players to compete in the SEC. As everyone knows it really all begins and ends in the trenches in this conference.
You would think people would accept that fact after what Bama's OLine did to ND last year.
