oh, so he coached that game?

Alvarez had already announced he was stepping down and Bielema was the HCIW. He was really the de facto head coach.

I distinctly remember Alverez on the sidelines... got the gatorade bath and all... even though we got our face kicked in, I still sorta felt good for the guy. He was a hell of a coach.

Just so I got this straight, former de facto HC/HCIW now coaching for the first time in Arkansas and the SEC has a huge advantage because he beat an AU team not coached by Gus Malzahn in 2006 while the DC of Wisonsin because of all of Gus's wins in Fayettville, he was unable to beat Arkansas there as an OC in previous seasons while coaching against Bobby Petrino? Is that about right?

You're right, it was against a much better team who happened to blow out #2 Auburn that year, on the road.

When we beat them they were undefeated
A fricking CONFERENCE USA team!!!!!!! They had wins against UAB, North Texas, New Mexico, UCA, Rice, SMU, UTEP, & UCF.

You are bragging about beating a Conference USA team. AT home. And you needed a GOAL-LINE STAND!!!!!!!!

in the top 15
Nope.

nd had the #1 offense in the country
Finished with the #1/2 offense in the country too.

Malzahn scored 23 against the worst defense in the conference.
He put up more yards on Arkansas than anyone else that year.

I can't believe you are bragging about needing a goal-line stand to beat a Conference USA team. As your homecoming game.

How pathetic.

Nice straw man.

If you go back one page, one of your fellow Auburn fans asked if Bret had ever beat Auburn. I simply replied "Yeah." But keep fellating your own wit, it's amusing.

I'm not bragging about anything, you brought it up.

I referenced Malzahn's record against Arkansas, and that happens to include the 2008 Tulsa game. I never brought up that game specifically, you did. LINK

Ah...so you didn't type this?

quote:

Malzahn has had 3 chances and failed 3 times. Logic would suggest that if a guy has lost every time he's coached against a team in a certain stadium, odds are good that it will happen again. Sure, there's a small chance that Arkansas could lose, but the odds are on our side.

That is neither logical, intellectually honest, nor displaying an understanding of what the term "odds" means.

Ok. Hopefully it is as amusing as the logical gymnastics you do to create meaningless stats to support your biased opinion about the future outcome of a football game.

Good shite
quote:

When was the last time Malzahn won a game in Arkansas? I'll save you some time, it's never happened before.
quote:

My point remains: Malzahn has not won in Arkansas WHILE COACHING AGAINST ARKANSAS ever

Malzahn has had 3 chances and failed 3 times

Obviously, because your "logical" stat would seem silly if you brought of the specifics facts underlying that forced stat.

You brought up the Tulsa win 3 times in this thread before I even said anything about it.

Three.

Times.

The location and Gus' job title during those three games are the only aspects of similiarity...since one has changed, your logic holds no water. That has been proven before. When the location changes, Gus has won...so it is logical to assume that if one aspect of the equation can bring about a different outcome, it is logical that the other can produce similiar effects.

Bret > Gus

Arkansas > Auburn, especially in Fayetteville.

Saying Malzahn is 0-3 in Fayetteville is not "bragging about beating Tulsa."

Go to bed.

Eta: and just to be perfectly clear, when I say Malzahn is 0-3 in Fayetteville, I mean in games involving the Arkansas Razorbacks. It does not include his Sun Belt record. Wish I didn't have to type that out but some people seem to be purposefully obtuse sometimes.
