Hope we hold Belue, Steen, and Norwood out. Even if their injuries aren't serious, not worth risk of turning them into nagging injuries that affect them for several weeks. Go ahead and nip it in the bud.

Thus far, I think only 8 true freshman have played which is a low number. It'll be interesting to see how many more play on Saturday. I'd like to see Mo Smith, Eddie Jackson and maybe Cook play some corner (along with Sylve). A couple out of that group will likely have to play significant minutes for us next year.

TUSCALOOSA, Alabama — Practice resumed in sunny Tuscaloosa with the standard afternoon workout.

The Crimson Tide was back on the standard practice field after using the far one (closest to Hackberry Lane). The Colorado State game plan is installed and the scout team was in full effect.

The media viewing period was extended from one to two periods, so there was extra time for observation.

Setting the scene

The temperature was right around 90 degrees, but honestly, it didn't feel like it did last week. Perhaps autumn is coming.

What we saw

-- The two injured players were back on exercise bikes. Receiver Kevin Norwood and cornerback Deion Belue were doing heavy intervals with the strength coaches during the media viewing period.

-- Right guard Anthony Steen was in a regular white jersey with the offensive line, but Kellen Williams was taking his first-team snaps when the starters lined up against the scout team. Williams replaced Steen after going down late in the Texas A&M game. Nick Saban listed him as the sixth starter who could fill in at nearly any offensive line position if needed.

-- The secondary was mixing different combinations at cornerback. Bradley Sylve took a few snaps with Cyrus Jones and the rest of the first team. (I'd caution reading too much into that since we only saw a snap shot of the practice)

-- The running back rotation started with T.J. Yeldon, then Dee Hart, Kenyon Drake and Jalston Fowler. Hart didn't see any action Saturday against Texas A&M at running back.

What comes next

A few players will meet with reporters following the practice. Nick Saban next speaks following Wednesday's practice.
