Is the SEC such an NFL pump that bowl games really don't mean anything anymore?

I mean they're cool to go to. They're fun. They're a vacation with presents. But if you didn't make it to the SEC Conference game and thus to a BCS bowl, do you really think all these kids that have NFL on the brain are going to be playing lights out like they do during the regular season when they have a chance still?

I'm a firm believer that the loss to Bama last year pretty much turned the lights off on LSU playing full speed other than when they absolutely had to. And by the time they got to the bowl game vs Clempson... who cares? Just don't get hurt.

Then we lose 11 to the draft?

When half your starters are thinking about the draft are they really going to care at all about a game that means nothing?

Bet we see more of this in the future as teams don't make the playoffs and the SEC bowl game dominance fades away other than we win the championship every year.

Really? Is this how you try to explain away your postseason arse rapings?

You sad, sad man.

I haven't really noticed tfat aside from some publicity from former LSU players. Coach Miles needs to get a handle on that, imo. Bench their arse as far as I'm concerned.

Well, early on the bowl games were merely a reward for the teams to go play in a different part of the country and experience new places play new OOC teams. Then, they decided to include the bowls in the "polls" and they meant something dir the MNC.

I could see it revert back to that for the teams not in the playoff. Plus one of the biggest reasons for making a bowl is the extra practice the team gets.

Since that would be a nice excuse for the 08 Utah debacle, I'll accept it.

The majority won't be in the NFL. This argument is retarded.

It's hard to tell when LSU has the lights on, and that's long before any bowl game

Towson for example

I think it happens sometimes when teams that had high hopes come up short and end up in a bowl with an inferior team. Although I would hope they could get up for a team like Clemson. Florida losing to Louisville and Bama losing to Utah are more along the lines of what I'm talking about.

All of the non-title bowl games are just glorified exhibitions.
