To the OP: they were the only team in the country who got the deed done against bama. That's kind of a big deal. And JFF is fricking awesome (in a douchebag kind of way)

Alabama's defense was below the Saban standard, and team didn't play at an elite level against their toughest competition. Sure, some key players were banged up, but beating Alabama last year isn't as huge as some would think. The defense wasn't impressive against LSU, Texas A&M, and Georgia. The offense was off and on along with AJ.

JFF may be awesome off the field, but he wasn't awesome against Florida and LSU and wasn't as noisy against Alabama after the 1st quarter. He better hope he doesn't face defenses better than last year, or he will come back down to Earth. I agree with the OP.

except the fact that he never really got the ball in the second quarter and led us on 3 scoring drives in the 4th quarter

I do agree with this. Said all last year, the linebackers especially.

They were big and strong, well disciplined, but not as fast as the previous years.

That's a big reason that they had trouble with QB's like JF. Their sideline to sideline speed wasn't as great as the previous years.

Biggest reason Mett had his best game all year. LSU exploited the flats.
