Two years is a very small sample size, especially considering none of the guys playing were his.

Also wouldn't call those two years "winning"
He was 17-8, and did not beat one team that finished ranked.

Aggies would have been glad to give him back.

He was the worst Coach ever at A&M and the program still hasn't fully recovered from all the damage he did.

He had a talent for pissing off HS Coaches. He cost A&M a lot of recruits.

Unfortunately he was decent at beating Texas which prolonged his tenure.

This is EXTREMELY key to Franchione's limited success at Alabama. Despite all his flaws, Mike Dubose reeled in some great recruiting classes and left Franchione with a full cupboard. Fran was a terrible recruiter and had he stayed at Alabama, he would have done no better than Shula.
