The “ pro prospect ” has nothing to do with GOAT in college though.

I think that is where these other gus get confused.

Montana was expected to do nothing in the pros, nor was Starr , Favre and many other players who became great players.Likewise many cant miss prospects MISS.

If we are looking at college only and a QB has 3 straight titles ( 4 over all ) and stats like last year he has to be in the discussion for GOAT college QBs.

Thats just a fact, he will be in the CFHOF.

As per the NFL , thats another chapter.

Yeah, because football isn't a team sport or anything.

Well Pville Football is a team sport but at some point if you are going to point to any particular prospect especially one in the Pros (which means longer than 3-4 years) not winning a championship can be a definite mark against how good they are. After all a strong arm doesn't make a QB, its the total package and yes Marino not winning a championship is a mark on his record.

How many other players can you name of the top of your head from those 80s & early 90s dolphin teams? I can think of one other player...

A pro style QB is always only as good as the sum of their surrounding players. Football is still a team sport. Even a talented mobile QB like Cam or Johnny Football benefit from a great offensive line. Marino had a long career, the fact his franchise didn't have the good sense to put the pieces around him yes does effect his career.

Look, all of this talk is pointless. Not many actually agree that AJ McCarron will ever be considered the GOAT college football quarterback. Even with his career, Johnny Manziel, Cam Newton and Tim Tebow were all better college quarterbacks, IYAM. And Cam Newton, because of what he did with the Auburn team, gets my unanimous vote of being the best out of the aforementioned group.

Take a moment and imagine the Alabama teams, AJ McCarron was on, with Johnny Manziel, Cam Newton, and Tim Tebow... Just take a moment...

If Cam had produced over more than one season and Johnny Football does over more than one season sure. But its laughable to say either one of those guys are some of the top GOAT QB's in college football off of one year of production each.

No, it's not.

You're looking way too far into stats only, man.

You are probably one of those people who think that a starting pitcher with a 22-6 record and a 3.50 ERA is better than a starting pitcher with a 14-8 record and a 2.15 ERA.

Had very similar numbers to AJ last year. Threw same number of TDs. 4 more INTs. Lower attempts. Higher yard/attempts. Better passer rating.

But, you know, an extra 1400 yds rushing with 20 TDs.

no but face it Marino had years for the franchise to build a winning team around him and they couldn't break through. That ultimately comes down to him does it not?

Let's use your stat argument, then.

AJ McCarron still doesn't have as many career touchdowns as Cam Newton had in one season, being 2010.

One also had a higher quarterback rating...

Cam Newton 182.0
AJ McCarron 175.3

So teams don't draft a star QB and then build the pieces around him?
