As a part of the Apollo 16 mission, Auburn Alum and Astronaut Ken Mattingly flew 10 specially designed Auburn flags to the moon. One of the flags was left on the moon to represent Auburn University. The flag was designed by former Associate Professor of Art at Auburn, Tazewell Morton.
