I think Stanford is closer than OSU - look at what the Stanford D did to Oregon. Not sure the OSU D would have the same effect, considering they gave up 49 to Indiana and 38 to Nebraska last year.

That was more Oregon getting into their funk and stopped being creative than anything Stanford did.

OSU d was bad last year, but it was due to undisciplined play, not lack of athleticism. Athleticism-wise, OSU is a lot closer to the SEC than Stanford.
