Simmons will be a tough get. Don't see Gates really being a good fit. I'd say Beasley is our best shot and would be a great pick up

We've been on Simmons more than any school probably but he'll end up at a powerhouse I'm sure.

This is what Evan Daniels said about Florida and their interest/visit with Jackson Davis tomorrow: "Florida has never seen him play. I'd be very surprised if much came up this one."

Larry Austin has already been granted a release from UT and Jordan Cornish is asking for one. I'm sure we'll know something on Turman pretty soon.

It's going to be a struggle for UT next year.

A former HC or highly regarded X and O's assistant. If it were a former head coach he would likely have connections with AAU and know how to recruit. I wouldn't want to hire just another recruiter with connections, especially since CAG runs a clean program. Half of recruiting is shady now.

Jackson Davis has narrowed his list to Alabama, Butler and Rice with a final decision by the end of the week

Alabama: “Coach (Anthony) Grant is an outstanding person with a vision that Jackson would allow him to grow as basketball player. The opportunity to play in the SEC would be huge honor. Coach (John) Brannen brings familiarity in a place far from home. He is from Kentucky and is a kindred spirit.”

Butler: “Coach (Brandon) Miller and Coach (Chris) Holtmann are both convinced that Jackson has a high ceiling and could be a factor for them for four years. The Butler fans have gone above and beyond to express their hopefulness that he would come to Indianapolis.”

Rice: “Coach (Mike) Rhoades’ decision to keep Adam Gierlach on staff and to bring in Carlin Hartman, both of whom Jackson had existing relationships, will make it hard to say no to them. Jackson was impressed by the direction Coach Rhoades is taking the program and feels that Rice will be an impact team sooner rather than later.”

Well he was committed to Rice for a long time and Butler is a good program so it's no lock.

THe way he talks about Rice makes it seem like they're a courtesy mention. Both those schools are a little more prestigious academically which is my only worry since academics is a priority for him.

@CecilHurt: One more note on basketball prospect Jackson Davis. He cancelled tonight's scheduled in-home visit with Florida.

With him canceling the UF in-home after our in-home and him canceling visits to Creighton and ASU after visiting us, I have to think we're the favorites. If not, Turman would be a helluva consolation prize.

I think we only visited his school today, but regardless, we've had the last visit.

Volfan linked something on the recruiting board that says there's some SEC rule against a kid who signs with an SEC school to go to another SEC school without sitting out two years.

I did not know Turman and Tookie Brown's High school coach got an assistant job at FAU. Wonder if that's where he'll go?

I would think some good programs would come for Turman unless he was set on staying with his coach.

What I'm getting now is Butler is team to beat for Jackson Davis

Looks like it's true. frick the SEC. Can we pull a Notre Dame and join a different conference for basketball?

Mitchell retweeted and favorited my tweet bashing the rule. Makes me think he talked to Gant and found out about it from him. Most of Gant's finalists were SEC schools, I believe. Might be why he's reportedly leaning towards staying at Mizzou. That and the fact he already moved up there.

It's pretty ridiculous and makes no sense.

You need to find out from Mitchell if Davis has told him where he's going or if he will before he announces.

I doubt Mitchell is going to leak his decision if Jackson trusts him with it. Can't hurt to ask though.
