Why didn't we stay in Iraq, build a massive Army/Air Force base which would have stablized the country with our presence, as well as staying next door to Iran to keep our thumb down on those bastards, all being paid for by the oil we take that is rightfully ours?

If we would exhume Teddy Roosevelt and make him super-president this shite would NEVER happen. Iraq would be renamed like New Arizona or something awesome.

I was thinking about tough guy super-patriots like yourselves when I read an article on this kid today.............

Here's an excerpt from his suicide note for you..........

quote:

You must not blame yourself. The simple truth is this: During my first deployment, I was made to participate in things, the enormity of which is hard to describe. War crimes, crimes against humanity. Though I did not participate willingly, and made what I thought was my best effort to stop these events, there are some things that a person simply can not come back from. I take some pride in that, actually, as to move on in life after being part of such a thing would be the mark of a sociopath in my mind. These things go far beyond what most are even aware of.

To force me to do these things and then participate in the ensuing coverup is more than any government has the right to demand. Then, the same government has turned around and abandoned me. They offer no help, and actively block the pursuit of gaining outside help via their corrupt agents at the DEA. Any blame rests with them.

Side-note: Same article says that military suicides are averaging 22 per day. That's more than were killed at Sandy Hook. Every single day.

No, not really. Been off the Rant for the weekend and now I come back to see this.

This guy "the soldier" served his country and I'm damn proud of him.

This guy "the civilian" killed himself and this is a tragedy, as are the 22 suicides per day you say are occurring. I would never judge those for their atrocities under combat or how they decided to face them afterwards. But it was their calling, not mine.

Having said that, I'm not sure what your response has to do with what I said.

If your not for protecting this countries' interest, settling the region to a point where Iraqs leaders aren't chem bombing 100s of thousands of their own people, keeping mad men from developing nukes, and retaining a resource for this countries' use to help preserve our way of life, then I'm not sure we have anything else to discuss,

ever.

Didn't realize I had already attained super patriot status, nice. But anyway come on man, I know this is your schtick and all but are ya really gonna go soap box on me over a comment regarding the reanimation of the 26th president of the United States in the pursuit and conquest of Mesopotamia? I mean damn.

ETA: Pity about that soldier, however.
