There wont be one. Number one....... I am not interested in Spunky's opinion on any topic. At all. Whatsover. And number two..... Spunky is a fragile, tortured, little man. I've seen him basically cry on here before and it made me feel guilty. I dont want that on my conscience again.

More clarification. When you take a case of beer to the beach do you seriously take 20 pounds of ice?
I'm starting to understand that you were at the Ducks Unlimited banquet just to get the sticker for your Yukon......and that you haven't really spent much time out of doors......
Does 20 lbs of ice really sound like a lot of ice to you?
That's only two of the small bags of ice like the kind you get at any gas station or grocery store!!!
You can put a case of beer in the bottom of my yeti and two bags of ice (20 lbs) on top and still have room for waters, sandwiches, and frozen bait on top. And if youre on the boat with it all day, you'll need to add another twenty pounds of ice when you replenish the beer in the morning.

No they won't.
You need energy to keep something cold. If a cold can is keeping another can cold, then it, by definition, has to lose some of its own coolness. And there goes your coolness-generating energy.
NERD MODE
[ON] OFF
Actually you need the absence of energy to keep something cool. Energy creates movement, movement creates friction, friction creates heat.

I like how your own 'nerd mode' disproves your theory, but you cant even see it!
Holy shite.....
Theory Applied: If you go with your method and put a case beer in a yeti with 3 cubes of ice on top, which is cooler....the 3 cubes or the beer?
A: the ice.
So, what happens? The heat energy from the warmer cans transfers to the ice, right?
And then what happens? The 3 cubes of ice melt.
And then what happens? Basically, what happens next is that your dumbass starts drinking hot beer......while I do not.
Unbelievable.

From the Yeti website..........
quote:
a 2:1 ratio of ice: contents is recommended to maximize ice retention. Rule of thumb when icing down cold beverages that need to say cold for extended periods of time is 1 lb of bagged ice for each 12oz can or bottle

WHEN I THREW A BAG OF ICE IN MY YETI AND MY CHEAP COOLER, THE ICE LASTED LONGER IN MY CHEAP COOLER. WHY?
A small amount of ice is not a good indicator of how well your cooler can retain ice due to excess air space within the cooler. Excess air space hurts ice retention. To maximize ice retention, fill your cooler to the top with ice and products. In addition, if the cooler starts out warm, a small amount of ice could initially melt faster in a YETI than a thinner walled cooler such as Coleman or Igloo.

Oh dear lord, you're still missing the most important part of this, his context for even asking for the suggestion.
He wants cold beer, but the Yeti couldn't hold enough beers with all of the ice. He alluded that he was going to drink a lot of beers and it wasn't going to take long. Therefore, I suggested he:
1. Start with only putting cold beers in there.
2. Maximize the amount of beers in the Yeti by stacking them a certain way.
a. which will also help to keep them cool, b/c the cold beers will have contact with each other
b. AND you're eliminating air space.
3. Put ice on top and get as much on there that you can and still close the lid.
a. As the "hotter" air in the cooler rises, it comes into contact with the ice, cools and sinks in the cooler.
b. the ice will continue to fall around the top layer of beers as you drink them.
By the time you get to your 16th+ beer during the under 6 hour venture, you're not going to notice 5-10 degrees of difference.
It's all about context Jefferson.

False.

Depends on what I'm doing. I live on an island. I'm minutes from the beach. If I'm just going to sit on the beach and drink beer, I'm good with just one bag. If I want to go out on the boat and have water and sammiches etc. or going camping and/or hunting, then it sounds like very little ice. I have the Roadie. I'm trying to figure out the best way to fit as many beers as I can and still keep them relatively cold while I drink them.

I have an ice machine but thanks for clearing that up for me.

Which begs the question, what is the best way you have found to transport one that size without wheels? Gorilla carts?

Doesn't the roadie have a metal handle? Or am I thinking of another size?
Posted on 6/19/13 at 2:10 pm to Spunky
The Roadie does have a handle. He clearly has a bigger cooler if he can put all of that in there.

This is complete horseshite.
The man said his cooler didn't hold enough beer, and asked me for advice....... so I responded with a perfectly reasonable answer that he simply needed a bigger cooler.
Then......because you have been hypnotized by all the Yeti stickers you see in your state....you tried to pass off some complete lies about how Yeti coolers are magical....and they don't hardly need but a handful of ice because theyre so "quality".......even though their own website backs up everything I said.
Long story short....instead of being a man and admitting you're understanding of Yeti coolers is incorrect....and that you dont understand the physics involved with how cans stay cold in a COOLER.....you're going to try and conveniently add all this "context" into his simple basic initial question?
Wow.
Go frick yourself.

You can carry it short distances by yourself. Otherwise, its a two man job.
