I think Louisiana recruiting will be an interesting dynamic. Fran fricked it. Absolutely had no interest in coon arse talent. Sherman sort of realized what Fran had done, and especially how much Fran ruined Texas high school recruiting relationships as well, made some very concentrated strikes in certain parishes. Sumlin seems to beyond such a regional focus, and after in state recruiting seems to take a different focus. I'm not so sure I don't like a little bit of the Sherman philosophy. There are some big bodies down in the swamp. I'd like to see some solid recruiting pipelines develop in the swamps. And pipelines go beyond the blue chip guys. Certain regions where the best couple guys are fought after and recruited year after year, even if they aren't national guys. We will see.

It was a very smart move for Sherman to look at La.
At that time, in state defensive talent was consumed by OU and tu. Sherman had no choice but to scour the state and La and find some athletes they could coach up. Louisiana produces plenty of athletes and LSU can't take all of them, and a good number of them go overlooked because their HS isnt very big.

I know I've said it many times here but its really hard to emphasize just how badly Fran f-ed up his relationships with Texas HS coaches and how much work Sherman had to do to repair the bridges that man burned.
