I like Jalapeno's and cowhorn etc. I've only tried habanero in homemade salsa. I think the unit that measures a peppers hotness is the scofield unit. A jalapeno is rated at 4000 units. The Ghost pepper is rated at roughly 1,000,000 units. What say you otb?

Growing them is kind of a hobby of mine, just gotten into it in the last 2-3 years. Still a neophyte...
I've got Habanero(common & chocolate), Bhut Jolokia(ghost), Trinidad Scorpion & Trinidad black pearl growing this year...
Here's a great forum if you want to learn more, everything from growing, cooking, varieties, sauces & places to buy products...

Love all spicy food. Habanero is pretty much my limit though.

I grow jalapeños to make poppers with. I have Tabasco peppers to make my vinegar hot sauce with. I dry my cayenne peppers out and use them in my Thai dishes. Just eat the banana and bell peppers.

I used to love them but I can't eat them like I used to. Pretty much just jalapeños for me these days. Some Thai chili peppers were delish though.

What would you do with a ghost pepper or the scorpion? Seems that those brands using one pepper for salsa or chili still find it way to hot to eat.
If you eat those badass peppers then you certainly have my respect. Hottest I ever eat was a tabasco.

I love them. Grow them. Eat them. Cook with them. Drink them in juices.

First remove the seeds and membrane. You might want to wear latex free gloves unless you're skilled with a knife. Next heat up a pan of vegetable oil. Toss in the peppers and cook until slightly brown. Remove and chop up. You now have the bold Caribbean flavor without the overpowering heat. You can use them as you like. Ghost and 7pot peppers have incredible heat, it the bold flavor that accompanies it is beyond amazing.
FTR they still have a good bit of heat.

Intredasting. I love spicy food, but I'm not touching ghost peppers.

You like to be jilled off after dude drips scorpion pepper juice on his hand.

Can and will eat any hot pepper. My favorites are habs, they have the perfect heat and a really good flavor.

Love them, but turn red and sweat like a mofo, even with several years of eating very spicy food.

We bought several bags of dried peppers, Habanero and ghost. Minced them up like crushed red pepper and put them in an old sesame seed shaker.
I use it always when cooking, chicken, steaks anything. Absolutely love it.
