I totally agree with all that. I just think if Clark beats out Shamburger, I'll take it as an all around positive. The lack of multiple ball handlers has crushed this team the last couple years.

Maybe I wasn't saying it clear enough before, but this hits it on the head and maybe I was mis-reading STL's posts, but the impression I had was that it is believed that Shamburger is good enough to just walk in and help salvage the team. He might be good. He might not. But I wouldn't discount Clark. I don't think it's a given that Shamburger gives the answers. We don't know. He played in a shitty conference against shitty competition. Some of the worst teams Clark played against were probably on par with a majority of the teams Shamburger played. Combined with a new system and a year's maturity and Clark may provide the answers, not Shamburger. And yes, that's a good thing, or I'd hope it is a good thing. We shall see.

I might do that with Gant, but Shamburger is gonna have to show me he's Gant-like good.
What about Gant's game gives you this opinion?

It really is odd that y'all are expecting more from the unproven players who have underperformed compared to Shamburger up to this point in college, or who haven't even stepped on the court yet.

I, too, will be glad to see Clark beat out Shamburger because that will indicate Clark improved a lot more over the offseason than I expect. We all agree Clark will be a better talent by the time he graduates, but for next year, it only matters who's a better player now, and that's pretty clearly Shamburger.

If it's not Shamburger, Mizzou is gonna run the point through a sophomore who has no starting PG experience. Clark just isn't at the point yet in his college career where he can knock off a senior PG who's already got 3 years of playing experience in college basketball and 4 years total on a college basketball bench.

SEASON - TEAM - PTS - REB - AST
2014 - HAW - 9.3 - 3.0 - 5.4
2012 - SJSU - 13.1 - 2.9 - 5.2
2011 - SJSU - 12.4 - 3.8 - 2.4
