The new Aggie QB is the highest QB A&M has ever recruited. A&M has also rarely recruited nationally. This is a West Coast guy looking at ND, Buckeyes etc... This is a recruiting gamechanger for A&M. Will take them a while to get depth of the LSUs and Bammers especially on D - but it seems the SEC plus JFF has put A&M, always considered a sleeping giant under the RC praise mediocrity years - into a potential power.

Getting the #1 Pro QB from the West Coast to come to college station over anywhere.

What does the rant think about where the Aggies settle into the pecking order over next 10 years?

They will be on par with LSU, Bama, UF, UGA in 10 years. 5 if Sumlin stays for that long.

I dunno. People smarter than me recruited this guy. He's a pro style guy in an offense that hums with a dual threat QB.

What am I missing?

I like the splash but question the direction.

They will always be a peg lower than LSU and UA

A&M will definitely become a top SEC school and they will do it faster than most people think.

With A&M being in the SEC, and Sumlin at the helm, ya'll are going to win a lot of games. Truly NC calibre? If you can get the D athletes LSU/UA/UF/etc get, and a DC that can put them to use, sky is the limit, imo.

Is the A&M program bigger than its coach right now? That's the question. If Sumlin were to leave, would A&M regress or continue forward?

When A&M's program can change head coaches and still play for national championships without missing a beat, then they'll have something to talk about. But until then, don't expect anyone to set aside extra room on LSU and Bama's shelf.

OSU offered him like 3 weeks ago. His recruitment didn't go on long enough for OSU to really be in it. He's a good kid, but I think that is the consensus on OSU sites.

I wish we'd offered him 6 months ago

Looks like Coach Sumlin wants to run his Houston offense after JFF quits running around.

Because you get one top recruit?

The big boys in the SEC have been doing this for awhile now. Congrats.

He's a 4 star, #27 in the nation.

Reggie McNeal was a 5-star #5 in the nation.
