How did Alabama reach the pinnacle of college athletics?

We aren't the master of every sport yet but we are heading in the right direction. It's a no brainer that we have the best coaches, athletic department, student athletes and overall success record.
My question is when did it start. Who is the person we can attribute this dynasty of a program too?

Alabama is far from being the pinnacle of college athletics. Just because they are great at football all you gumps think "hey every sport must be like this rawl tide rawl."

Alabama hasn't even won the sports trophy for the league yet, but now it's the pinnacle of college athletics?

I'm not sure credit can go to any one person but I sure am enjoying it. I'm not sure any college has ever had a run like the one we're seeing right now. Truly a great time to be a bammer.
