Just didn't seem to matter as much. Times were a little different back then. Remember ties, no SECCG, and no BCS?

It wasn't fair then and it isn't fair now. It has come to light, however, with the expansion. The transitional schedules being questionable as well as the fact that now cross-divisional rotating games will be so spaced out are bringing this all to light.
However, this isn't about just LSU as you've pointed out. If it isn't LSU getting hosed in the scheduling dept. it's someone else.
