I'm not arguing that. UF is definitely the top team in the east, and will be for the foreseeable future. But UT won't be terrible for ever either, and can easily get back to being the 2nd best football program in the east. It's not like UK is our cross-divisional game.

What's all this tradition I'm missing with UA-UT? It feels so forced. In what ways is it a natural rivalry? I can understand UGA-UA from a historical standpoint but even then it's not like it's more intense than any other big 6 SEC game. It's been stated before that LSU-UF is an outstanding matchup, but it is not a "rivalry."

The intensity of that rivalry (UT-UA) could easily be reproduced with a high stakes game at Georgia or Florida or USC.

There are too many great programs in the East to worry about preserving some forced rivalry.
