I just don't see any positives about the football program right now, coming off a terrible season with absolutely nothing going good in recruiting right now either. I'd love to be wearing black and gold shades right now but it just seems like we've got a long few years ahead of us

DGB had 4 TDs in the last three games last year and averaged out 14.1 ypc as a freshman and has been moved to starter and now fully understands the playbook. Has potential for a huge year. That's a positive.

I don't see it getting any worse? Is that a positive?

DGB primed for a big year, Franklin showing improvement without injuries coupled with heavy competition from Mauk. Stadium improvements are well underway. Those are all positives. Will they translate to more wins? Only the season will tell.

Last year was bad, but it was a pretty unlucky season, the injuries really exposed the lack of depth.

While the depth hasn't gotten any better, the odds of another perfect storm of so many injuries hitting is probably unlikely to happen again.

We did okay versus Georgia, Florida, and Bama to a lesser extent, we weren't really beaten badly in any game except USC.

Hopefully the staff used all the training powerups they've earned on the players injury ratings.

Also Josey is back and Hansbrough seems improved.

All those people last year who complained about our offense got their wish (kinda) when Yost left.

The O line is more experienced, should be improved, and cant be as injury prone as last year. Right?!

As bad as last year was I agree with Mizzeaux that we were okay against Florida and really shoulda won that game, obviously vandy and syracuse were very winnable. So as bad as last year was it easily could have turned out respectable.

I agree with you on how disappointing recruiting has been and I don't see it changing until we start winning. It gets frustrating seeing us only get commits from guys in SEC states who have no other offers. But on the plus side that gives us all plenty of opportunities to use our favorite line "we find under appreciated recruits, Sean Witherspoon and Danario Alexander were 2 stars! haha

It will all be over by the end of Thanksgiving Weekend. That is what is getting me through.

As an outsider looking at last year your 5-7 could've been 7-5 even with your #1 SOS...

That's even with your team looking quite honestly pretty small & weak. Injuries really hurt you guys last year & JF didn't pan out the way you thought.

Getting rid of Shaggy & his "flat footed immobile QB" hurry up offense will help. That "O" might have worked in the B12 but seeing the QB take the shotgun snap & just dance around in one spot waiting on a guy to come open or hand it off on a sprint draw was X-mas day to SEC DC's... JMO...

I expect you guys to bounce back pretty quick. Your school has too much going for it to be a lower tier SEC school. Money, tradition, administration & fanbase....

You gotta new OC coming in, we'll see. Prolly gonna take a New Head Coach tho to shake things up & get things moving forward...

CGP has been great for y'all but you've gotta move forward... JMO... GOOD LUCK...

Thanks for the observations from someone who isn't wearing the black and gold tinted glasses.

My own thoughts are that I think that position by position we should see improved play. I just don't think the results will change a lot. I understand injuries, but our offense was absolutely anemic last year, even against SLU, where most of our points came off of special teams and the defense.

As I see it, if DGB breaks out, the receiving corp should be improved. If he doesn't, there's probably a down grade based on who we lost. The OLine should be improved based on the experience they gained last year and what appears to be more depth. I'm really kind of excited to see how the move of Boehm pans out. The RB situation should be improved with Josey being back and the improvement of the rest of the committee. I think they'll more than make up for the production lost with Lawrence. I'll leave the QB situation alone because I'm just not sold. Suffice it to say IF IF IF IF IF Franklin's healthy, he can't be worse.

Defensively, we're weaker on the line, possibly the same or stronger on the ends. LB will be wait and see but I don't see us being better. Maybe holding pace. The defensive backs? Well, I don't know if it's the athletes or the coaching, but I've never been impressed. Having said that, I think this group has the chance to be better.

At the end of the day, I have no idea what to expect. Anywhere from 3-9 to 7-5.

I 100% agree that injuries were a big factor but what that exposed, in my opinion, is GP's failure to recruit adequately. Had he, we would have had the depth to continue to compete.

We did do well against UGA, UF and Vandy. Bama was over before the storms hit. I will give the team credit for coming back out and fighting after the storms, but the game was truthfully over by then anyways.

The only problem with that is for every game that was winnable but we lost, there was a losable game that we won. We were close to losing the ASU, UCF and UT games as well and could have just as easily have gone 2-10 as we could have gone 8-4.

that is a good point about the close wins as well. Really had 6 games that coulda gone either way and we only won 3 of them.

I hate talking about the injuries but it really disrupted our offense changing the line each week and never getting Franklin healthy. Injuries can't be controlled but you are totally right, the lack of recruiting made those injuries even more difficult to deal with.

They really did and I understand that. I think the other positive to take from that is that it appears the OLine learned and hit the weight room hard.

For one thing, Henry Josey is back. We have a new offense, and if Franklin has gotten his head out of the clouds, he and DGB should have a good year.

As far as the talk about last years injuries to the O-line, I kind of see that as backups getting good experience. This to me should help with some depth in itself as we should have lineman with experience to step in should the chance arrise.

The only glaring pitfalls I see are the D-line and placekicker.

I see Franklin seems to have finaly come back to earth. The QB camp couldn't have hurt. His competition (Mauk) should be ready to step in. I'm excited to see this kid finally at some point. Berkstresser from what I've heard had a great spring.

All in all, we should be better this year. But I'll reserve myself until the season starts rolling and see the effect the SEC gring has on them before I get too excited.

Thank you. There were only 3 bad games(meaning losing by 14-21+).. Bama, SC, and the 4th qtr of UGA. Other than that Mizzou held their own considering the injuries. People on SEC Rant just love talkin shite.

Everyone seems to be forgetting we lost by 30 to A&M. But I do see the potential to turn it around. THe better usage of TE's is one of the bigger things I look at on offense. And if the O is more effeciant (scores more points, sustains longer drives even if they dont result in a score) then that will help the defense tremendously.

The QB'S are battling it out for the starting job and both are looking very good and its only spring. So if all of them stay healthy that would go a long way toward a respectful season so sometime next year about this time you'll be feeling alot more positive......I'll keep you encouraged, I've seen way worse than this FT from our team in the past. Also our high school stadiums going to look alot better in a couple of years and I just read today where Coach Henson stressed just how important top notch facilities are and alumni and donors are stepping up and making it happen. Give it time. Rome wasn't built in a day, just hang in there and don't give up. be a die hard like me. Also give to the TSF if you don't already. MIZ-ZOU!!!!!

I will always be a die hard. Even if I express my expectations that this team will be 5-7 again this year, it doesn't mean I won't be rooting for them to win each and every game they play. And I like the fact that Henson just laid it out there. The facilities are way below acceptable and that's affecting recruiting.
